    Syndicate Remastered

Post  Corn With Sombrero on Fri Mar 30, 2012 8:31 am

Without slacking around too much i'll skip right to the point : normal syndicate rounds tend to be boring and full of stun-choke-space fail, so i thought of a great way to not only unfuq Syndie rounds, but also bay an ode to a great oldie, if anyone heard of it : Syndicate Wars.

The plot of the game is simple : you're an Eurocorp executive (or Church Of The New Epoch executive, depends on campaign) , that has to stop the Church's revolution, and bring back order, trough three simple mission types, Persuade, Escort, and my favourite, ASSASINATE!Your workforce? Well, not much, just maniacal, 22nd century, drugged-up, minigun/pulse laser/LR rifle/just about any other random weapon wielding cyborg maniacs that you control. Of course, implementing all of that (both spriting and coding, as well as balancing...) would be a pain in the spessasshulz, so i came up with a simpler solution : give the syndies a far smaller, boarding shuttle, that "crashes" into one of the arrivals emergency shuttles. Syndies have no space suits or a shitload of gear they have to pick up : it's all on them, so they can finish their job more quickly and effectively. Now, in Syndie Wars, agents wear armored trenchoats, that we can easily reverse-engineer from the Wardens trenchoat, by just changing it's color to brown, widening it a bit, and adding metal shoulderplates. Another pair of accesories they use are mouth-worn bandanas (that, for the sake of SS13 lore, can be special, voice changer interweaven, so they double as something useful, and not just badass) and sunglasses (may as well be HUDglasses, who knows?.

And now : the tools of the trade :
Agents start out with multiple weapons : one is a very heavy minigun, that requires both hands to operate, and the other one is an Uzi, that works simmilair to the P-M1911. They also have a miniature medkit with them, and one "batch" of knockout gas (given to a random syndie), that makes it's victim have hallucinations and impairs senses and movement. Think being drunk, but with more temporary blindess involved. Besides that, they also have a Persuadertron (used in persuasion "missions", simmilair to how the revs flash people to gain allegiance)and Clone card, that can create an ideal replica of it's targets DNA, and thus physical appearance, as long as it is on the user.

    The counterweights :

-The minigun, is a big, clunky, impractical weapon : it needs two hands to operate, only Syndies can operate it (a real minigun with some 100 rounds would weigh some ~300kg, so it makes sense that only machines or cyborgs, that is, Syndicate Agents can use it), and it cannot be recharged or reloaded : it has 100 rounds, after which it is considered "depleted", and cannot be used anymore. To counter all of those bad nerfs, the minigun can also be used as a PDA (trough the objects tab>Open Minigun Panel), and can be used one time to start off a local EMP.

-The Uzi, since it is already implemented, shouldn't be subject to any change, if this even gets implemented...but then again, a cute little description wouldn't be bad.

-The Syndicate medkit is far more compact than Centcomm's clunky white healing shits, and as such can be easily placed in a backpack ( even though i think syndicates with "Chest Compartments" would be far more awesome), and is used far more simply : you just click on it like any other usable item, and you get a message : "As you press a button on the kit, a swarm of nanobots unfurl from it and jump on your skin. This might take a few seconds and you need to stay still, or the nanobots will make mistakes in tissue replication. " There's another idea : the nanobots randomly fucking up things if you move. Maybe they could mess up your face, or create even bigger wounds...

-The Persuadertron : think of big, white, phazer-like "guns" with a near point-blank range that can completely alter ones higher brain functions, and even force him to change allegiance. Since this would be a great thing for getting allies fast, it needs a bit of balancing done : firstly, it gives off a blue flash around it's target when used, and secondly, it can be used once again, to reverse it's effects. And then again, the crew could protect itself from it by forcing the roboticist to make "shielded CHIP's" that do not allow the Persuadertron to be used. The only problem for this thing is that if it is implemented and if you guys acctualy give a fuck about SW lore, everyone on-board should have CHIPs of some kind, so that they can be tampered with trough the use of the Persuadertron.

-Knockout gas should work like an infernal mix of flashbangs, spess drugs, and temporary blindess and deafness. Just think of it.

-Clone key : You get a guy within 5 tiles from you, you "scan" him with the key (not an acctual key, more ID-like), and then use it from the Objects tab to use his physical appearance. "Your body slowly begins to reshape, this may take a while." It would last around 15 seconds, after which the Syndie has his physical appearance.

I hope that cleared out most of the questions, even though i am thinking of furtherly expanding this in the upcoming days. Also, i'm more than willing to sprite all of these things, as well as test it, IF it gets in. Also, if it does get into Apoc SS13, i am going to run naked around the station screaming "ALL HAIL IDW!!!!!!!!!!"
By the way, you can also go with the "new" Syndicate, where it's more about chip hacking by using your own chip, and playing annoying dubstep music. After all, it's your choice guys, and thanks for even scrolling down to the bottom to see if i acctualy said anything wortwhile.
